You know, I don’t think you have ended up on this page because you’re a bad leader. I think you’re here because you have tried to be a good leader really hard, but you keep getting stuck, running up against people, structures, circumstances to a frustrating degree.
And you’re done faking that that’s okay.
When you think way back, things probably had started out really well, because you have a gift to gift to figure and give people what they want. Having an uncanny feel for what’s needed, solving the trickiest of problems, brilliantly bringing together what seemed impossible – totally your jam.
But that started to turn against you when you took on a leadership role. Being yourself and saying what you think started to get in the way when you entered the world of word salad, superficially good looking, fast solutions, and pretending you have your shit together – perfectly so. As always, you learnt quickly, you coped – but it’s eaten up your joy and your energy. And you can see how your team suffers, too.
What if leadership actually didn’t have to be this way just because «everyone» does it?
Think about what leadership literally means: To lead means to go first. Courageously chart unknown territory. So maybe what «everyone» does isn’t actually a truth you as a leader have to swallow and adhere by if it isn’t a great fit. But I also get that the stakes are high. It’s not like you could just radically change your leadership, starting tomorrow, abandon all constraints, ditch your fears… without any consequences.
Aim high, but then work on 1% at a time.
Don’t get me wrong here: I still want you to dream and aim really high. And I think you have that in you, because if you were truly resigned, you wouldn’t be here. But making new &courageous stuff happen is heavy lifting, and that’s why I offer support with it – so you get the step width exactly right, making unstoppable progress.
